Turtle, Gnome, Goof

I've been reading a lot lately (from real honest-to-goodness printed paper-based books). Also, both the librarian and the mommy jobs are keeping me quite busy at the moment, there's the garden to attend to, a house guest on her way, yarn to knit, bread to bake... you get the point. As a result, this blog has been showing signs of neglect. I think the blog can deal, and I hope, dear readers, that you won't mind the occasional lapses in posting either. Perhaps a few pics of the goofy boy will help. Picture number 1: Silas wants to be a turtle more than he wants to get his pajamas on. Lucky for him, there's an empty hamper and a camera nearby. Picture number 2: Silas doesn't understand that a manila envelop is an envelop. He calls it a hat, places it on his head...hilarity ensues.

In this shot, taken last weekend, Sobin sits calmly in the deck. The cat is slowly adjusting to the new house and is starting to spend more time outside, rather than moping around on the couch all day. There are more dogs and other cats in the neighborhood, and he's a fan of neither. Still, he seems to be claiming his territory and is actually acting more affectionate with his human companions than he has been in a long time.

My goal is to update more on what we are doing in the house, at some point soon. The house is a work-in-progress and although we've already accomplished quite a bit, we still have a lot more to do. It will take time...

Back a bit

I was looking through photos trying to find something in particular and realized there were some from September that I'd meant to post, but never got around to. Without further ado, here they are.

Currently...

Currently, Silas' Halloween bulldozer is being used by his animal friends. "They're having Halloween!" he says as he pushes them around the living room.

And in other news, Si is only wearing trainers at night. Otherwise, it's all underwear all of the time. Woo-hoo! We switched Si's doctor this week (we're all going to the same family doctor now) and we really like her. Silas weighed in at 31 pounds and was 36 inches tall, which is pretty average for his age.

I know I haven't been updating as much lately, but that's just the way it is right now. I'm in a blog lull. I'm sure things will pick up again at some point. Till then, be well everyone!

Just for the sake of posting

It seems that I haven't been motivated to post to the blog lately. Too much going on right now, I guess. I did want to write a quick post to say that my parents (Silas' Grandma and Papa) are visiting and will be celebrating Halloween with us tomorrow. That's exciting!

Rest assured, there will be a lot of pictures of Silas in costume tomorrow, or in the days following. Till then, I hope everyone who reads this is doing well.

Rainy day entertainment

Just chillin' in our loft, making up songs on the guitar because...

...We're having our first rainy day in months. It's a nice change of pace, if you can believe it. It has been so dry lately. The hand-dug well in the greenhouse already dried up a week ago, which is really early.

Hopefully, we'll get our bout of rain over the next day or two and the weather will be sunny again by the time we arrive at the ocean on Wednesday :)

My mom saw this picture on our computer and wanted me to post it, so here it is!
We're having lots of fun with them while they're visiting from Wisconsin this week. Today, we went to the zoo! I'll post more pictures later on...

"Silas try it!"

Often when Silas sees us eating something that looks interesting to him, he will say "Silas try it!"

A few days ago, he was playing with the ergo baby carrier (he likes to clasp and unclasp everything), and he brought it to me with the request that "Silas try it." I put it on him, cinched everything up and put his doll in the pouch. Silas was so proud!
